Meet Maria King

Maria King
The work I do in Progressive Health is more than just a job; it is my passion. I have always wanted to help people and have never been shy of having an opinion on how people could help themselves. After suffering through my own chronic IBS and constipation issues, I developed an interest in gut health, which has become my area of expertise, and how nutrition can heal and maintain a healthy body.
I love how simple changes in nutrition can have a major impact on a person’s overall health and that this type of treatment is accessible and attainable for most people. The concept of using natural produce and products to help heal and maintain the body is something I believe in wholeheartedly, as I myself am proof of how subtle dietary changes and nutritional supplementation can have a significant and long-lasting positive impact on the health of our bodies.
I am interested in the science of the body and how its mechanisms and functions can help a practitioner understand how and why patients are experiencing the issues they are. I am also fascinated by more recent research into the gut-brain connection and the potential links between gut health and mental health.
While I love educating myself, I get more enjoyment through assisting others to learn about their own health, helping them understand how and why they may be experiencing certain symptoms and how specific changes can help make them better. At the same time I enjoy helping them understand why the changes will help make them better. I get great satisfaction through helping people set and reach their goals and I love seeing them experience a better quality of life as a result.
I am also passionate about iridology and have been fortunate enough to have studied under and been mentored by Toni Miller, Australia’s pre-eminent Iridologist. Iridology gives a unique insight into strength and nurture points of the body, all through a photograph and high quality analysis of the structures within the iris. Iridology helps strengthen my treatment plans, as it gives a greater personalised understanding of each client, even more so than only consultations and clinical questioning can. When these approaches are combined with integrative pathology, a comprehensive picture of a person’s health can be examined and a truly personalised treatment plan can be developed.
Above all else, I love people. I love getting to know each of my clients, helping them on their journey to better health and knowing that our time together provides them with advice, education and support that will continue to help them long into their happier and healthier future.
